Applications are open for the 2023 Level Up Local grant, developed in partnership between Prospera Credit Union and Accelerate Okanagan.
This grant opportunity is designed to assist small businesses located in the Okanagan (Osoyoos to Salmon Arm) that are needing a boost to their tech strategy and tools. It can cover many costs including; optimizing SEO, creating social media and digital marketing campaigns, website development, or even software and hardware costs that enable operational efficiency and business growth. The initiative launched in 2022 and has supported businesses throughout the Okanagan Valley including Rockwands in Lake Country, Transwest Helicopters in Oliver and Beadtrails in Summerland.
You don’t need to be a tech company to apply. This grant is all about creating access to technology for all types of small businesses. Applications close June 18, 2023.
We recently caught up with the Prospera Team to dive into why they continue to invest in their local community and their excitement for the Level Up Local technology grant initiative.
Why did Prospera want to partner with Accelerate Okanagan to offer the Level Up Local grant?
We were very excited to partner with Accelerate Okanagan when we heard about the opportunity! It was great to build the Level Up Local Grant program together since we both share a passion for nurturing entrepreneurs in the Okanagan Valley. Accelerate Okanagan’s expertise in digital strategies and its deep connection to the local market make them an excellent partner for this initiative.
What do you hope that businesses applying for the Level Up Local will do with the grant money?
We hope that businesses applying will use the funds to develop creative digital strategies that resonate with our local communities and their growth targets. Businesses already face so many challenges while trying to grow and increase revenue, so we hope that by enhancing their online/digital presence, they can achieve those results faster. When businesses are able to create engaging marketing campaigns and invest in streamlining operations, they can connect better with their customer base and grow. At Prospera, we believe that when our local businesses thrive, our local communities also thrive – it’s a win-win!
Why is it important to have initiatives like this in the community?
These programs provide much-needed support to local businesses that need help overcoming economic challenges and adapting to the ever-changing digital world. Customers these days want everything fast and simple! By investing in local businesses, we are strengthening our entrepreneurial ecosystem and creating job opportunities that support the well-being of our communities.
