About the Speakers:

Becky Troelstra founded AvenueHQ in 2013, a startup focused on providing online marketing to residential realtors. After scaling it across the US and Canada, raising $8.5M USD, and getting the company to break even, she stepped away in 2020 to pursue other interests. While AvenueHQ continues to thrive, she has focused her time on mentoring early-stage startups in Techstars and top University Entrepreneurship programs at Harvard, Berkeley, and Stanford across the US and Canada through the pre-seed Startups team AWS.

Becky is passionate about helping startups thrive by deeply leaning into their strengths and learning how to eliminate the constant noise that distracts from the main goals. Her approach to mentorship is to help founders “get out of their own way” and overcome impostor syndrome while removing distractions and creating clear communication and focus.

Valerie Mann is the founder and Chair of Lawson Lundell LLP’s Technology Group and leads as Chair of the Social Impact and Sustainable Business Group. Her practice is transactional as well as advisory. Formerly the Managing Partner of Lawson Lundell, Val has played a key role in various transactions for private and public companies, including mergers and acquisitions, financing, and corporate reorganizations.

In 2017, Val obtained her ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors and the Rotman School of Management. In 2018, Val was inducted into the Women’s Executive Network and named one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women.
