ReCharge Project contributes to sustainable phone charging.

A ReCharge solar-powered charging table is being installed at Okanagan College this week that will allow students at the Kelowna campus to sustainably charge their phones.

ReCharge, the first project of its kind in BC, makes it a flagship product for green technology. The initial project was founded by three students from Okanagan College; Nick Gallant, Cooper Simson, and Josh Wiebe. After submitting a grant application to Enactus Canada (a student-run organization that develops and implements projects designed to improve the standard of living), project ReCharge was announced as one of 13 finalists nationwide and is now in the running for a $20,000 grant.

The three co-founders have since launched a solar installation and distribution business called Central City Solar. The new company was recently accepted into the Venture Acceleration Program at Accelerate Okanagan and will continue to explore green and cleantech solutions for charging and power.

The ReCharge solar powered phone-charging table is being launched and installed for use on February 22at the Kelowna Campus on K.L.O. Road. You can stop by and charge up anytime between 11:30 am and 1:00 pm. For more details about the unveiling check out their Eventbrite.
