ABOUT YOU (AS A TECH ARTIST)

You are a passionate, talented and experienced Technical artist. You have a strong understanding of the strengths and limitations of real-time rendering, and embrace the challenge of helping create beautiful things within constraints. You take pride in creating systems and structures that are organized and extendable. You are an excellent communicator and have the ability to multitask and prioritize work based on feedback. You have the confidence to raise issues early and keep stakeholders informed. You always meet or exceed milestone requirements. Colleagues would say you’re meticulous and innovative – and that your involvement means that things will look amazing and run smoothly.

YOU HAVE:

  • 2+ years experience in a digital art content creation pipeline, ideally in the video game industry.

  • Professional experience as a technical artist/tools programmer.

  • Knowledge of high level coding language. (Python, MaxScript, Perl, C#, QT. etc.)

  • Experienced developing custom tools for Digital Content Creation tools (Maya, Max, Blender, etc.)

  • Expert level experience in modeling and art tools (Autodesk Maya, 3DS Max, Photoshop, etc.)

  • Knowledge of rigging and animation.

  • Working knowledge and understanding of video game development processes and techniques.

  • Strong understanding of rendering budgets and other technical issues related to performance in real-time engines.

  • Experience with game editors and engines (especially Unity).

  • Light setup, texture optimization and shader development in game engines (especially Unity).

  • Experience with Unity’s Shader Graph or other node-based tools.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work with technical documentation.

  • VFX experience in Unity a plus.

ABOUT THE JOB (SOME OF THE THINGS YOU’LL DO DAILY)

  • Work with the Art and Engineering teams to help design, implement and optimize art pipelines.

  • Design, build and maintain scripts for the art team.

  • Troubleshoot problems and find appropriate solutions for artists.

  • Assist the team in learning new technologies and processes.

  • Develop 3D art pipeline tools and extensions with an eye towards usability and efficiency.
