Your Opportunity:

Under the supervision of the Manager, Infrastructure, the Network Services Technician will support Okanagan College cloud and data center, planning, project work, implementation, operation, and security, including file services, printing services, and backup services. The Network Services Technician also provides technical guidance to Okanagan College faculty, staff and students on related matters.


Education and Experience:

Graduation f rom a two year post-secondary program in a related area. Minimum of four years of related experience. Cloud architecture certification, Microsoft MCSE, CCNA and VMware or equivalent certification is


Functions and Duties:

1.Manage and support servers, print servers, and backup servers and their associated operating systems
and software.
2. Administer cloud services in a corporate environment
3. Administer and support security solutions, including firewall, anti-virus, and intrusion detection systems.
4. Support network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches, hubs, and UPSs.
5. Performs equipment, hardware and software upgrades.
6. Network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related
documentation and technical specifications information.
7. Administer and maintain user accounts, permissions, VPN Server and access rights.
8. Perform server and security audits reporting findings and recommendations to Manager.
9. Perform system backups and recovery.
10. Schedule, and perform network improvements, upgrades, and repairs.
11. Provide guidance to new or inexperienced members of the team.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.

• Ability to travel to other campus locations as well as a valid Class 5 driver’s license
• Physically capable of completing bending, reaching, lifting and carrying (up to 50 pounds)

Annual Salary/Hourly Rate:

$29.64 – $33.90


Special Instructions to Applicants:

This is a 5 month term position to support the Mitel telephone to Microsoft Teams phone migration project. Must be comfortable in and being technical lead on a project. Position will be customer focused while being comfortable implementing the technical requirements. Position will require travel to all campus locations.
