Digital Content Specialist  




Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, this dynamic individual will be responsible for building authentic conversations and engaging, innovative content across various digital platforms such as email, blog and social media. The individual is a strong creative copywriter with a keen sense of emotional storytelling and authentic tone. They are creative and have a keen understanding of the importance of communicating our brand’s visual identity and ensuring all visual content adheres to brand guidelines and represents our brand’s values and tone.  


They will help to optimize marketing efforts with segmentation, personalized emails that nurture and engage customers throughout their buying lifecycle. The candidate is detail-oriented and possesses strong analytical and critical thinking skills. The candidate is also someone who thrives in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment, is a self-starter, open to collaboration and well-versed in digital content marketing best practices. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities 


Content Development and Management (70%) 


  • Develop and execute marketing strategies that leverage our visual identify and storytelling to build brand awareness, loyalty and increase conversion.
  • Assist with the creation of visual content, including graphics, videos, and images that resonates with our target audience and effectively communicates our brand’s messaging. 
  • Assist with creation, review processes, and cueing up written content for external communications and marketing collateral, including advertising, social media, email marketing, and blog. 
  • Create and manage social content and calendar that aligns with other marketing activities to deliver a cohesive and compelling story across all channels.
  • Lead social media content creation (both the creative and copy), publishing, and community management.
  • Identify new content opportunities, develop, and source content as it pertains to our social platforms like the blog, Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram.
  • Develop blog concepts and content that supports customer engagement and feeds the content pipeline for other digital marketing efforts.
  • Ideate and create copy to support nurture marketing initiatives within email and other platforms.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of technical SEO, link building and other digital tactics and algorithms to execute on online marketing campaigns that earn qualified organic traffic.


Marketing Automation (20%) 

  • Support the development and implementation of personalized emails and targeted campaigns through platforms like Omnisend that align with our marketing content strategies 
  • Help optimize email marketing performance through innovative content for nurture and drip campaigns, A/B testing and sound analysis of user behaviours to increase conversions.
  • Support the creation of monthly newsletters, promotional eblasts, additional supporting email pieces as needed.
  • Help monitor and analyze key performance metrics to identify successes



Other (10%) 


  • Support the Haven Affiliate program
  • Regularly researching and staying on top of digital trends and technology to refine content strategy and suggest new initiatives.
  • Support other tasks and team members as needed.



Education and Experience 


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

  • 2-5 years of marketing experience.
  • University degree or college diploma in marketing preferred, but not mandatory with the right work history.
  • Proven experience of managing content and campaigns for consumer brands.
  • Exceptional communication and creative writing skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external audiences 
  • Strong planning, time management and organizational skills.
  • Understanding and experience in using content management systems.
  • Thorough understanding of social media platforms, including advertising, and how they support other digital marketing efforts.
  • Experience in social media as a customer service platform and sales-related experience and/or training.
  • Ability to develop and coordinate deliverables across multiple channels.
  • Experienced in technical SEO, Google AdWords certification is a plus.
  • Sound understanding of the principles of digital marketing compliance.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment, comfortable managing high level strategies as well as administrative tasks.
