Do you have strong business acumen and a passion for supporting
businesses in the community? If so, we want you on our Economic Development team! This position works in partnership with the Manager of Economic Development and local stakeholders to facilitate a healthy, dynamic and sustainable community economy by supporting existing businesses and encouraging appropriate new business investment. This is a full time, term position anticipated to begin in June 2021 and end in November 2022.
As the successful candidate, you will:
- Liaisewith and represent the Economic Development Commission (EDC) with localstakeholders, government and service provider agencies in order to promotecollaborative participation in economic development initiatives.
- Promotethe Central Okanagan Region and the RDCO’s EDC through the use of onlinemarketing, events, community presentations, publications, and pressreleases.
- Contributeto the Operational Planning Process by taking input from stakeholders,providing industry sector and demographic data reports and drafting theannual RDCO EDC Operational plan.
- Contributeto the financial management of EDC budgets by coordinating applicationsfor provincial and federal funding programs managing project budgets forassigned projects.
The ideal candidate will have a degree in Business or Communications and three years of related experience, ideally with non-profits, start-ups, private, and government organizations. You will like to take ownership of projects within the scope of your role and be proactive in your approach to your work. You will have excellent communication skills, project management skills and business acumen. The ability to positively represent the RDCO and use your own discretion and good judgement while working with community stakeholders is critical to the success of this role.
