The Role

AO is looking for a well-rounded, organized, coachable, and detail-oriented member of the team who is skilled in communications and has a passion for content creation both on and offline. The Brand & Social Coordinator will enable, promote and support the brand’s voice across a variety of platforms including; media (social media, digital and traditional advertising), events (physical and virtual), and utilizing a variety of mediums (visual, written, and verbal). The successful individual will have the right mix of technical, organizational, and communication skills with a passion for community and ecosystem building.

The Brand & Communications Coordinator works with the Brand & Communications Manager to implement and execute Accelerate Okanagan’s brand strategy.

Key Functions:

Content Coordination 

  • Plans and implements social media campaigns and content
  • Creates and posts to all appropriate channels including, but limited to social media, website, and newsletter
  • Coordinates and manages a variety of content that has been submitted by various stakeholders
  • Ensures content schedule is adhered to
  • Ensures brand, style, and writing guidelines are consistent

Content Development 

  • Plans and develops compelling content for internal and external communications
  • Develops and implements marketing strategies to optimize messaging effectiveness and enhance brand experience
  • Researches, writes and edits short-form and long-form content
  • Works with designers to create compelling visual content for channels
  • Ensures brand, style, and writing guidelines are consistent

Special Projects 

  • Coordinates/manages operational aspects (ie logistics, vendors, timelines, file management) of various communications and brand projects such as events, marketing campaigns, research initiatives

Skills & Experience:

  • Marketing, communications degree or related experience
  • Advanced understanding of social, digital, and print publication channels
  • Strong storytelling skills
  • Short and long form writing experience
  • Interest and understanding in the entrepreneur’s journey and technology sector
  • Adobe, CRM, Google Analytics, WordPress

Communication

  • Uses clear, concise and considered language in written and oral communication
  • Effective oral and visual presentation skills
  • Active communication skills including persuasion, influence, negotiation, and facilitation
  • Uses active listening and curiosity

Organization & Prioritization

  • Foresees problems and solves them proactively
  • Ability to toggle effectively between people and task-based requests/demands
  • Able to assess levels of importance and urgency and decide on a course of action
  • Ability to troubleshoot in a timely manner

Self Management

  • Ability to balance a variety of projects, team needs and tasks simultaneously
  • Works calmly under pressure of a rapidly changing environment
  • Emotional self-awareness; ability to be composed and rational with emotions
  • Able to strike a balance between being active and being receptive

Accountability

  • Ability to follow up/through with requests, feedback and tasks
  • Ability to report on and/or analyze outcomes
  • Ability to hold self to objectives

Relationship Management

  • Able to develop meaningful relationships both internally and externally
  • Builds rapport through empathy, treating others with respect and demonstrating credibility
  • Generates support with others
