Applications Developer

If the answer is yes, we are looking for you! Become an important part of our team as an Applications Developer and help the City of Kelowna create the digital city of the future.

As an Applications Developer, you will:

  • Design, develop and maintain responsive web applications to connect citizens to city services
  • Collaborate with developers and stakeholders to modernize online service delivery
  • Create and maintain a seamless digital experience across a range of platforms and applications
  • Modernize internal productivity applications with a focus on user experience
  • Maintain and enhance a multi-site CMS that manages a range of city and regional websites
  • Customize third party applications to follow city branding and standards
  • Perform accessibility testing along with cross-browser and device testing


  • A four-year bachelor’s degree in Computer Science
  • Experience building responsive websites using HTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • 5+ years of relevant experience building rich, user-friendly web-based user interfaces
  • Solid experience with common JavaScript UI frameworks such as Angular, Vue or React
  • Previous experience working in an agile environment
  • An understanding of modern user experience and user interface design (UX/UI)
  • Experience with DevOps, Jira, Confluence and source code management, such as Subversion and GIT
  • Experience working with Azure or Docker an asset
