Meet Mr. Capitalist. The Capitalist is the star of the award-winning game AdVenture Capitalist, created by the team at Hyper Hippo Games. When he isn’t busy building his next empire, you’ll find him enjoying the finer things in life right here in the Okanagan. 

Why did you choose the Okanagan to call home?

The Okanagan is a billionaire’s playground. I’m originally from Siberica, but I set out to conquer vast frontiers at a very early age, and I’ve never looked back. There are so many things I can spend my riches on—a yacht! A winery! Does anyone know if that lake’s for sale?

Where do you work in the Okanagan?

My people at Hyper Hippo have an office in scenic downtown Kelowna, just off Bernard Avenue. But you can either find me in the boardroom, on a boat, or hitting the slopes. On Saturdays, I go to Scandia.

What do you do at Hyper Hippo?

I tap progress bars and count dollar bills. I spend money, make money, spend more money, make more money, and then go home… with my money. 

What advice would you give to someone interested in a job like yours?

Build a team you trust, dress for the job you want (not the job you have), and always invest in gold. You too can join the 1%! You just have to fill a need that people will pay for, spend money to make money, and CRUSH your competitors!

How do you like to give back or add value to the community?

I’m actively working to improve the city by volunteering at local charities. Last year, my team volunteered at the food bank, the Women’s Shelter, and took part in shoreline cleanup at City Park. (I’ve offered to pave it, but they keep turning me down).

What is something that people might not know about you?

I don’t often talk about him, but my brother is a Communist — nice guy, but a little misguided.

Who is someone that inspires you?

Anyone who’s living a rag to riches story is a true inspiration. Whether you’re an up and coming entrepreneur or a single parent juggling life and work, you’re a true capitalist, and I’m rooting for you.

What are some of your goals for the tech community?

I’m trying to beat Elon Musk to Mars, so I’d like to see a space program. The tech industry is really taking off here. Reaching the moon should be the community’s MVP.
