New Year Kick Off 2019 | A Look Inside Featured Image

If there is one thing we know for sure, it’s that the #OKGNtech community knows how to have a good time! Our 8th annual New Year Kick Off (NYKO) was all about creating valuable connections and memories with the brightest in the Okanagan tech community. The event welcomed everyone. Entrepreneurs, technology enthusiasts, investors as well as supporters of #OKGNtech gathered at BNA Brewing to celebrate the beginning of a new year, and a bright future for the industry.

Here is a look at some of the highlights.

ANGELS IN PLAIN SIGHT

his year we kicked off the night with a signing event for the inaugural OKGN Angel Summit. The Summit is new to the Okanagan and designed to bridge the gap between companies looking for growth capital and investors looking for investment opportunities. Lead Investor, Drew Shaw, signed a cheque on behalf of 25 investors. Those investors will participate in the 11 week course that begins at the end of this month. The winner will be announced at the finale pitch event on April 11th.

EAT. DRINK. BOOGIE. REPEAT.

Once the cheque was signed, it was time to celebrate. The BNA team served up pristine cocktails and culinary delights that prepped us for the night ahead. Wtfast kept guests fresh and fuelled with their signature NYKO cocktail the Fast One.

DANCERS AND BOWLERS UNITE

The night continued as guests bowl’d upstairs in the new BNA Bowl Lounge. As the night went on, they traded in their bowling shoes for dancing shoes and headed downstairs to boogie to beats by local DJ, Aaron Desilva.

Every member of the tech community plays an important role in ensuring our community continues to thrive. Our future has never looked brighter and we are excited about the year ahead. Cheers to a supreme 2019!
